An update on James, his memory, and his effect on Alexandrians:

By the time I walked into Starbucks this afternoon, slightly more than 24 hours after the plain white sign and red candles were set out yesterday morning, the memorial to James has grown.  Someone had made a new, colorful sign saying, "We miss you, Jimmy," and someone else had added a vase with a single rose and a note saying, "We'll miss you, James."

It gave me chillbumps. And, to be truthful, a new faith in humanity.

Thanks, James. I'll always call you "my friend."
